There are so many social media platforms. All of them have different audiences, allow you to post different content and work in different ways. There’s no doubting that it’s a powerful tool for your business.
It can be pretty intimidating though, to take that first step to start to think about creating those profiles. And that’s before you even start to think about your strategy or what content to use, or even how you’re going to manage it. But it really can be a simple to use, powerful tool to use to grow your business.
But where do you start and how do you get set up on social media platforms?
These 6 steps will walk you through deciding which platforms to use, and make the process of setting your pages up a walk in the park!
1. Get familiar with the social networks
A good place to start is to familiarise yourself with the social networks that are out there. There’s a lot to choose from, 189 to be exact. The likes of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram are the big ones. Facebook alone has over 1.6billion monthly users worldwide
2. Set your goals
Next, think about what it is that you want to achieve. Do you want to build your brand, grow trust or simply drive people to your website? All of these lead to the most important thing for your business, lead generation!
3. Know your audience
Once you have an idea of the goals you want to achieve, get to know your audience. What does your typical client look like and are they the sort of people you want to target? This is a vital part that helps you decide which platforms to use and what content to produce.
4. Who users what platforms?
Get to grips with the platforms and who is active on them. 43.1million adults in the UK have at least one social media account, but how do you know who uses what? You need to do your research! 5. Decide which ones are best for you.
Take a look at your target audience, and who is using what platform and deciding which ones you should focus your efforts on becomes much easier!
6. Optimize your profile
This is vital. Your page/profile is likely the first impression a potential client will have of your business, so you have to get it right!
